The Process

We've all seen it, that 90's style fireplace with no personality. The owners of this fireplace were ready to bring some new life to this fireplace and make it the feature of the room.

Not abandoning its traditional roots, the homeowners wanted to maintain a traditional midwestern style, utilizing stacked stone as the main material, while also freshening up the aesthetic.

Much needed storage and shelving were added to fill the whole wall space and make the fireplace feel like a cohesive part of the room.

Lots of planning went toward cabinetry layout, mantle material and decorative lighting; all of which played an important role in the overall aesthetic.

A dark stained cherry wood was selected for the cabinetry and mantle to provide a beautiful contrast between it and the stone fireplace façade.

Finally, decorative lighting was installed on the floating shelves to accentuate the shelving and highlight decoration.
